Use global numbering to check extremities of parallel ridges.

Needed to color surface near an edge owned on a proc, but with all adjacent faces on another proc (see Jenkins #506). Avoid variable clashes by using ppt->s for internal communicator indices, and ppt->tmp for global indices.
